Architectural Technology Graduate Career Ireland (€55,000+)

A NFQ Level 7 or higher degree in Architectural Technology or Architecture opens the door to work as an SEAI-registered Technical Advisor in Ireland. This is a rapidly growing field, with good earning potential (€55,000+) right out of college.

In addition to your Level 7+ degree, BER Assessor training is required to qualify as a Technical Advisor. This takes around 6 days of training, with an approximate cost of €1,500. You’ll also need a driving licence.

What the Job Involves

  • Talking with the client to understand their goals
  • Surveying client dwellings
  • Producing reports on the energy performance of the building
  • Drafting a plan to improve the building energy performance
  • Communicating and advising clients on your report and plan

How You’ll Use Your Skills

As a Technical Advisor, you’ll hone your Architectural Technology skill set by devising retrofit plans to maximise the energy performance of the building. This includes selecting technologies, specifying standards, and outlining upgrades to minimise energy consumption.

There will be a special focus on:

  • Heating systems
  • Insulation
  • Ventilation
  • Renewable energy integration
